Synopsis of study
So continuing on from doing a short film on the last project I will make another short film. The last one was a silent so now I shall attempt to write a script for this next one. Which will be a big challenge and something I have no experience of but find it extremely exciting. I have learnt a lot from making my first short film and that will benefit me immensely for this upcoming project. In this project I will be making music to accompany the film composed on my sequencer. I realize to make the best use of the music I need not to over use it as that would diminish the affect of it. So I will be putting in a lot of work into what points of the film the music will accompany the images. My location will be using the countryside as a location so working outside will mean I’ll come across a few problems so I must be prepared. Also using dialogue for the first time means I need to work out how to record the dialogue to the highest quality. As this is will be one of the hardest parts to get right I will need to plan it carefully. On this project I will work with children as actors so at times it may be completely improvised and I may just have to do lots of rearranging to work out how the story will best fit together after I have captured my footage. I have decided to use children as the central characters because I would like to play on the element of their imagination and that will make the film more fun and likable for the viewer hopefully. In trying to get kids to say my lines may be difficult but I have experience in dealing with little ones. I have lots of younger siblings/relatives and like to think I’m good with children so I shan’t be phased or scared at the prospect.
I’m undecided on the tone of the film and feel sometimes I would like it to be emotional and sometimes just a bit of fun so for it to work out as one polished well fitted piece I will do lots of watching of films to get ideas on this topic. I felt on the last project I managed my time very well which benefitted the project so I must do that again if I am to succeed in acquiring a piece of work I can be proud of. Most importantly I hope this project will turn out well so it will be a strong piece I can add to my portfolio. The short film will be around 10 and 12 minutes and like the last project I will also create the music for the project.
